Taoist Fitness was invented by Patricia Müller in 1990 for her students who wanted to quickly improve their physical aspect without losing the Taoist principles of T’ai Chi Chuan and Taoist Yoga, but also have fun in a more vigorously way..
During this lesson we use two modern “ tools”: a big ball and a wide elastic strip.
Working with the instability of a big ball the short and profound muscles of the back automatically will get strengthened producing a visible improvement of the posture. But not only: hopping on the ball the muscles of the legs will harden and, moving the hips also the muscles of the abdomen get strengthened and the lumbar part of the spine will be unblocked. Thanks to the movement the shoulders relax and the head gets up. There exist also exercises to relieve the tension of the back leaning on the ball. All exercises are done with music and often bring the participants to laugh out loudly.“Yes, often the kids of a parallel course look at us in a surprised way” says Patricia Müller laughing.
In the second part of the lesson (now we become more serious!) we use a wide elastic strip, with different resistance according to the strength of each student, which strengthens the superficial muscles modelling the beauty of the body. Here the exercises are many and in continious development: they can be done standing, seated or stretched out on the ground acting on all muscle chains (frontal, behind, inside and outside) of the back, the abdomen, the legs and the arms. Being very large the elastic strip distributes its pressure without creating any damage or irritation. “In fact all the exercises of a normal fitness program are possible without using any fitness tools and permit to practise anywhere.”
The Techniques of massages are very easy, indicated for everyone and can be done also using little sticks and small balls.
This lesson too ends with a massage and can be combined with Taoist Yoga and T’ai Chi Chuan.
Patricia started with T’ai Chi Chuan in 1977 studying with the Chinese master Gia Fu Feng. From 1978-79 she lived in his Taoist Community Stillpoint in Colorado (USA) and in 1981 in Florence (Italy) master Gia Fu Feng authorized her for teaching. From 1977 till 1987 she practiced aikido and ki-aikido.
At the association Ki Dojo she offers, since 1988, T’ai Chi Chuan Courses, increasing in 1990 her activity with Tao Yoga e Tao Fit. Ha tenuto numerosi stage su Feng shui, massaggio taoista e I-Ching.
In 1996 she published for M.I.R. editionsi the book "Pratiche Taoiste" and for lulu.com she wrote "L'Arte nel Tao", "Il Buongoverno Taoista", "Manuale di Astrologia Taoista", "Educazione Sessuale Taoista", "pensare Yin - essere Yang" e "La Toscana nella Pentola Taoista".
