Taoist Practises

An antique practise for a modern world

Are you stressed? Does it seem you never have enough time? Are you overweight? Do you have problems concentrating? Do you have pains? Are you unable to breathe well? Would like to do something for yourself and stay in friendly and relaxed company and practise without any competition?

Well then, maybe the modern world of the antique Taoist Practises is made for you!

Yin-YangThe various Taoist Practises, like T’ai Chi Chuan, Taoist Yoga and Taoist Fitness, are based on the study of the two opposite but complementary forces called Yin and Yang. Their exchange produces the necessary harmony for the general well-being of body, mind and emotions, which become healthier, more relaxed and at the same time strengthened, balanced and functional

In the various Taoist Practises (exercises of maintenance upon which also Chinese medicine is based) harmony is to be found in the study of Yin and Yang and its stretching of the energetic channels. Although the exercises can be done alone, it is better to do them with the support of a group. They can be practised in any environment, comfortably dressed with stockings or light shoes, according to the climate.

Pratiche TaoisteThe Taoist Practises have no age limits, “in fact in China T’ai Chi Chuan is practised particularly by older persons” says the instructor Patricia Müller, who is specialised in the curative application of this discipline. in her book Pratiche Taoiste.

Normally the student becomes younger thanks to the movements which involve the whole body, correcting his/her posture and increasing the flexibility of the spine and the hips, also strengthening at the same time the abdomen muscles.

How can we choose the right practise and course?

T’ai Chi Chuan is practised in an erect position with the knees slightly bent; during Taoist Yoga the student should also be able to sit on the floor, while for Taoist Fitness he/she should like to move more vigorously.

It is also important to consider the timetable . In addition to following a single practice it is also possible to combine the different disciplines of Taoist Practises: for example Taoist Fitness and Taoist Yoga, Taoist Yoga and T’ai Chi Chuan or all three disciplines together for 3 consecutive hours, acting first on the spine, the posture and the external muscles with Taoist Fitness, then on stretching the tendons with Taoist Yoga and finally on gentle but strong movement to “make the body energy work” with T’ai Chi Chuan. (see Taoist Practises: Curative aspects).

If you think this is something for you, why don’t you stop by?
