T’ai Chi Chuan

T'aiChiChuan

The antique Chinese art of T’ai Chi Chuan, is approx. 3000 years old and is an excellent holistic system: at the same time it strengthens, discharges and harmonises mind, body and emotions.

It is based on the Taoist idea that a system made of mind, body and soul is harmonising for the quality of the body-energy by itself, producing therefore a natural balance from the being. By analysing its name this idea becomes even clearer:T’(ao) Ai Chi Chuan
in order of the words means “the way of the harmony of the energy (constituted by the two energies Yin and Yang, opposite but complementary) which requests the highest diligence”. Patricia Müller teaches exclusively the Peking form of T’ai Chi Chuan, the most recent and the most practised one in China (in schools, hospitals, the army, etc.).

How can this be possible?

T’ai Chi Chuan is characterized by circular and soft movements, executed with slightly bent knees and bust. We combine these movements with a walk characterised by a torsion of the bust or a wider walk which decongests the joints. The movements of the arms are relaxed and harmonic, but in any case also tonic and circular. They are directed by a pelvic movement.

With relaxing music

The slow movements are combined with an equally slow and deep breathing, which can involve the thorax, the abdomen, the perineum and the diaphragm.

T’ai Chi Chuan harmonises the body through movement and the mind through breathing: the slower the breathing, the slower we have to move.

localized massages According to Chinese medicine every movement of T’ai Chi Chuan is connected with an energetic flow (meridian) and with an internal organ which gets regulated and strengthened. The teacher Patricia Müller is particularly specialized in the curative application of T’ai Chi Chuan, aspects often neglected (publications) or forgotten to make space to an exclusive martial art study.

It is possible to combine T’ai Chi Chuan also with Taoist Yoga and/or Taoist Fitness.

The lessons conclude with localized massages.

Breathing Techniques

Breathing with the thorax guaranties a better ventilation, relaxes the emotions and stabilises the cervical/dorsal part of the spine.

Breathing with the diaphragm acts on the lower inner organs, corrects and protects the lumbar part of the spine and pulls “down” the emotions.

Breathing with the abdomen has a calming effect (indicated for cases of insomnia/anxiety) and produces a light pelvic movement (unblocking the connection between the sacrum and the lumbar spine part to guarantee a healthy torsion without producing ruptures of the discs).

Breathing with the perineum strengthens the muscles of the perineum, which are now able to better contain the endoabdomen pressure (produced by a wrong respiration or a blocked breathing caused for example by stress).
